WHY CHOOSE THE HOUSE OF DOG?
If you are coming to us for daycare and have become a full-time client we consistently work with your dog and every dog. “training” is not just a 15 minute a day activity “training” is a 24/7 way of life. Instead of “training” I use words like “guide or Lead” to show all the dogs how they are supposed to properly behave and act whether it's here with us or when they go home, we help them become the best “citizens” they can be.
We are very methodical when we approach training and dog clients.
“Can you teach my dog to sit, stay and recall?” Yes of course we can. We can train your dog in most every basic obedience and command there is to be offered but what we focus on is the relationship between dog and man. There has yet to be a dog we have been able to work with and or connect with. It seems today the common narrative are things like “my dog hasn’t been around a lot of dogs before.” Or “they bark all the time” and the “I'm pretty sure my dog doesn’t know its name and calling them to me is near impossible.”
The House of Dog approach is based on learning about your dog's personality and temperament. We kind of stand back and see what they like and not like how they handle situations and what areas need work. We build a relationship. An understanding or an agreement if you will. After the bond and relationship has been made the training falls in place naturally.
Trainers want to use things like e collars or treats to help guide and lure their dog to what it is that needs to be communicated and these methods are incredibly useful and effective when used properly but we do believe these methods aren’t necessary and a dog would rather have a solid relationship and communication line rather than a treat or “Communcation” device.
What do you do when you don’t have your treats to lure, or your e collar to push?
My dogs are my family. We are a pack. A unit.
We communicate and train 24/7 with nonverbal and verbal commands and with body language.
Dogs want to have a sense of duty, accomplishment and social fun! This is where they can do exactly that. Dogs come here and join a pack of buddies where they learn to co-exist and communicate and build a bond. They run and play all day, go through small personal training windows to build confidence and get to rule the land. Under supervision that is.
I know I would NOT bring my dog to a place where dogs are on top of each other and kenneled. Where I have to pay for 15 minutes of puppy play time and if they want a stale biscuit, it's an additional charge. That’s why you pay to have your dog in a controlled environment where they are welcome at our facility home and couches and floors. We truly mean it when we say your dog rules. It's all about your dog here. Come check us out before it's too late!
Things like these or getting into the garbage, chewing the sofa, or jumping on grandma and grandpa when they come by is not acceptable behavior.
We can help with realistic and reasonable approaches to meet your needs and goals.
Every dog has his or her own unique personality, and we want to know how your dog acts and reacts to all kinds of situations and figure out the best way to effectively communicate what it is we want from them. Dogs are not mind readers and they are not humans; they are descendants of the wolf. If we can accept that then we can move forward to establishing a deeper and stronger relationship with you and your dog. Over the years I have had the privilege and honor to interact and connect with many dogs and work with the most dog like dog men and women to have an extraordinarily strong understanding of dogs and how to efficiently help shape and develop your dog. Life is crazy as it is and why not have a peace of mind when it comes to your dog and tap into the true enjoyment of what owning an obedient dog is like. We will help your dog become and or continue to be a positive, enjoyable, and active member of society.
How does it work? What are you paying for?
First, we only accept a small amount of “in house” clients per day. Meaning, for every dog to get consistent and adequate constant attention stimulation and supervision we keep our kennel below a dozen dogs. Dogs ARE NOT penned and kenneled all day. Dogs are off leash and free to play, chew, and sleep as they wish. Every dog has his or her own crate or “space” for break times and rest. The dog handler and or trainer is always with the dogs.
We do at times fill up but do not fret! We can help by making home calls, training, and walks to help until a space is available for your pup.
Second, we are accessible to our clients and members 24/7 call or text. Whether your dog has run away/missing, having a medical problem or a family event comes up. You and your dog have a dog handler at your side you can call and a bed and bowl waiting. With our program and process we hope to have you and your dog around for the long term, so your dog has his or her own outlet and consistent stimulation and training. Once you join our pack you get the full treatment!

What Board and Train entails
1 – 3 weeks in length
We have day care meets before the initial boarding. In-between this day care visit(s) we will have a home visit either before or after the boarding where we either assess the dog and situation or carry out implemented routine and program.
The day care visits before boarding starts are to accomplish the goal of positivity and for your dog to feel comfortable, safe, and happy to be here and apart of the program. The process begins the second you turn down our road. Your pup will begin remembering the way just as you would. When you pull into the driveway, we want your dog to be ecstatic and happy to be back to their familiar pack. With that comes a nice slow and positive integration to our routine and “foundation” pack of dogs and other animals who live here on the property. We want your dog to know it is a good thing to be here and they are free to be a dog! Then at the end of the day they get to go back home to their beds and owners and dream about chasing dogs and playing. Then the next day of care is more of the same... FUN! And MORE FUN and laid-back times! After we have had the groundwork laid out it is at this point your dog will have a pulse to the kennel and feel that they have established themselves into a role with the pack and routine. This makes feeding easier, sleep and rest is better and even going potty will come more naturally. All this builds up a feeling of home and security.
Then Finally comes the long-term stay! In this time your dog will be on doggy “vacation” and training! Where we will restructure their base of training and help them properly adjust to what it is we want from them. Your dog will be trained and treated as if he or she were our own. We will go on field trips, public areas, and wherever else we can give your dog the experience and exposure they need to continue their development.
Some commands and what we will train are: No, yes, easy, Sit, stay, come, back, up, down, heel, place, outside, inside, off, leave it, drop it, speak, quiet, on leash, off leash, proper behavior, socialization, stimulation of the body and mind, along with others. All within agreed upon time.
After the Long-Term stay is completed, you will be able to have your dog back home! Depending on the dog and situation we can and will bring your dog home to you. After the kisses and licks and you have been reunited with your pup, we will then go over what the process looked like, what had gone on in that time, and go over any training that you will continue. Once that has all been completed, you will have an option to a free home visit/call and or a day care visit, where we will make sure everything is staying the course and training has been continued. You and your dog are then clear to book and stay whenever and are officially pack members of The House of Dog!
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us anytime where we can discuss in further detail any part of our program and or process.
Thank you for your support and we hope to see you and your dog soon!
